The Dows Firemen took the Smoke House to the school on Monday to give students a demonstration on the proper way to exit a burning building. The trailer fills up with simulated smoke, as the students learn how to crawl and stay low and to find an exit. - Reuters

Wright County Night Hike at Lake Cornelia



The Annual Wright County Night Hike will take place Saturday, October 18.  The program will begin at 6 p.m. with the last group going through at 9 p.m.  Groups of 20-25 will be scheduled to leave every 10 minutes and it will take approximately 45 minutes to one hour.  The groups will be led along the nature trail and will listen to about 10 presentations (4-6 minutes each).  This event is fun and informative for all ages, not scary.  This is an enjoyable family event and we encourage everyone to come out and enjoy the great outdoors at night.

Waid presents some possible revisions to winter road ordinance

Wright County’s snow and ice control policy (Ordinance #2) was reviewed by the Board of Supervisors at their meeting this week. County Engineer Dan Waid, along with Assistant Engineer Adam Clemons, brought the document to the Board along with some slight revisions that Waid would like to see made prior to this winter.

Waid told the Board that the current ordinance, reviewed in 2003, needs to be looked at again. [more]
